Standing on the Point Buchon Trail, which is south of Montana de Oro State Park on the coast of central California, I observed this flock of pelicans flying low over a point called Disney Lookout, or Fat Point. Looking closely one can count 19 birds in the photo, making it appear as though they're racing. Point Buchon Trail is on PG&E property, so a reservation is necessary to hike there.
