When you make plans to visit the Grand Canyon, always plan on more than one day. You never know what sort of weather you might encounter. This is a view from Point Imperial taken in August, 2014. There were lightning storms the day before, and a beautiful sunset. It rained all night and in the morning the entire canyon was filled with one big cloud. The cloud didn't start to lift until after 4PM. Those that stopped by for a day trip were awfully disappointed. I didn't think I'd get any good shots on the hike on the Point Imperial trail, and didn't want to get water in the lenses of my new 645Z, so I took my trusty Pentax MX-1, and got some good shots anyway. I like the silhouette of the rocks and the lone pine, looking like a Christmas tree, in this one.
